Hjelholt uldspinderi har en lang historie og det er nu fjerde generation som er igang på spinderiet.
Hyrdegarngarn has a beautiful characteristic feeling and rough look. It has it's own special shine and the colors have a depth due to the mixture of white and grey wool. Hyrdegarn is a long lasting yarn that is strong and durable. It keeps the shape very well.
The yarn exist of a mixture of shiny yarn from Gotland sheep and the soft merino sheep from the Falkland Islands and soft mohair.
When knitting in Hyrdegarn from Hjelholtuldspinderi You support a local spinning mill and their craftsmanship. At Hjelholtuldspinderi they are concerned about sustainability and animal welfare.
Since 1878 the Hjelholt family has produced wool from their own organic sheep farm and today the mill is run by the 4th generation, still valuing traditional craftsmanship. The mill is located at the east of the beautiful island Funen. The spinning machines comes from Brandts Klædefabrik which was closed in 1978 and that is the lovely area where our shop is located.
